- Temporary road blockages persist in South Thuringia, extending until the coming week.
The rail line connecting Oberrohn and Bad Salzungen, located in southern Thuringia, will be shut down for an extended period beyond initial expectations. A representative from the rail company disclosed that the recent downpour seems to have eroded salt from the identified subsiding area, leading to the ground collapsing. The closure will persist till the following week, with heavy equipment first being employed to fix the tracks.
Earlier in the day, Erfurter Bahn had alerted in the morning that the subsidence alert mechanism had triggered an alert. A temporary bus service was established between Eisenach and Bad Salzungen as a substitute. The region is characterized by frequent disruptions due to the erosion of salt from the ground, leading to the formation of cavities.
Due to the subsidence alert and subsequent track damage, the temporary bus service between Eisenach and Bad Salzungen will continue to operate as a replacement for the Mining-affected rail line. In an effort to prevent future Mining-related incidents, experts will conduct a thorough investigation of the ground conditions in the area.
