Escape from the police - Teenagers without a driver's license flee with car into cornfield
Two teenagers without a driver's license drove an car in Neuhaus am Inn, district of Passau, to escape police officers. The damage caused was approximately 15,000 Euro. According to the police, the 16-year-old driver and his 15-year-old passenger, both from Bavaria, were in Austria at night. The police in Schärding wanted to subject the car to a control. In response, the driver gave gas and fled to Germany.
The teenager lost control of the car and drove into a cornfield. Afterwards, he parked the car at the end of a settlement. After an initially unsuccessful search for the car, a patrol encountered the two teenagers shortly afterwards in the vicinity. The two were interrogated and handed over to their legal guardians after the interrogation.
The police initiated criminal proceedings against the 16-year-old for endangering road traffic, prohibited car races, and driving without a driver's license.
The cornfield where the car ended up was located in the adjacent Lower Bavaria. The teenager's actions led to several accidents along the border between Germany and Austria. Despite the new house they were visiting in Austria, the incident resulted in a long conversation with their parents back in the County of Passau. The driver's license issue might have been more manageable if they had stayed in Bavaria, away from the border patrols.
