Teenagers handling pyrotechnics: Explosion in apartment
In Heringsdorf on the island of Usedom, according to initial police findings, two teenagers handled pyrotechnics in an apartment and caused an explosion. The two 18-year-olds suffered burns and splinter injuries, as the police announced on Monday. Rescue workers treated the two injured people on site.
The detonation on Monday caused considerable damage to the apartment amounting to several thousand euros. The Anklam criminal investigation department, an explosives investigator from the criminal investigation department and the ammunition recovery service were deployed to secure traces and recover further pyrotechnics.
It was not initially necessary to evacuate other tenants in the apartment building, it was reported. The police are investigating the two suspects for causing an explosion with explosives.
Due to the explosion, emergency services were immediately called to the apartment. The teenagers' actions led to both accidents and emergencies in Heringsdorf.
