Teenager seriously injured: Home-made fireworks
After two teenagers were seriously injured in a fireworks explosion, investigators assume that they made the explosives themselves. After the incident, the two 15-year-olds told the police that someone had thrown the pyrotechnics in their direction in Landshut.
However, further investigations into the case revealed that they had probably made the explosive mixture themselves, the police announced on Monday. On Friday, investigators discovered material for making firecrackers in the home of the parents of one of the teenagers. The two 15-year-olds are now being investigated for faking a criminal offense and violating the Explosives Act.
Both suffered serious injuries to their hands and faces in the explosion. They were reportedly still being treated in hospital on Monday.
In light of the incident, authorities in Lower Bavaria are urging caution regarding homemade fireworks, as they can lead to serious emergencies. Due to the teens' actions, discussions about youth involvement in crime and the misuse of explosive substances have gained traction.
