Teenager racially insulted: State security investigates
A man is said to have racially insulted a 16-year-old girl in Berlin-Neu-Hohenschönhausen and threatened to remove her headscarf. When a passer-by intervened at the intersection of Vincent-van-Gogh-Straße and Warnitzer Straße on Wednesday afternoon, the suspect walked away, police said on Thursday. The teenager then reported the crime to a police station. The state security department responsible for politically motivated crimes is investigating. According to the information, the teenager was out with two younger siblings. The man is said to have followed them before the insults occurred.
The investigation into the racially charged incident also involves examining potential links to extremist ideologies. Unfortunately, incidents of hate speech and extremism have been on the rise in recent years.
