Teenager consumes laughing gas and falls in front of train
A 16-year-old boy leaned into the track at a Munich train station and was hit by an arriving S-Bahn train. The teenager is said to have consumed laughing gas with an 18-year-old on the platform on Tuesday, according to a statement issued by the Federal Police on Wednesday. Investigators found a bottle of the gas, which is sometimes used as an intoxicant, on the track. According to initial findings, the 16-year-old ran into a train traveling at around 40 kilometers per hour and stumbled for initially unknown reasons. He fell between two parts of the train and was hit and run over by the rear part of the train.
Emergency services rescued the teenager using a rescue board, according to the fire department. He was treated by an emergency doctor at the station and taken to hospital with serious injuries to his leg.
In Upper Bavaria, the incident at the train station has led to increased discussions about railroad safety and the potential dangers of substance abuse. Despite the increased traffic on the railroad lines, there has been a concerning rise in accidents involving intoxicated individuals.
