Technology is on strike: election postponed
The planned re-election of Nicole Kumpis as president of Eintracht Braunschweig was postponed on Friday evening. The general meeting of the second-division soccer club had to be canceled due to technical problems.
Neither the technology required for voting in the presidential election nor the stream for those members who wanted to follow this hybrid event digitally worked at the Eintracht stadium. As the problems could not be resolved, the members present agreed to postpone the event to an as yet unknown date.
In spring 2022, 49-year-old Kumpis became the only woman currently elected to head a German professional soccer club. Twenty months ago, she prevailed in a vote against entrepreneur Axel Ditzinger. This time there is no opposing candidate.
Despite the technical issues, the postponement of the presidential election in Bundesliga 2's Eintracht Braunschweig inconvenienced fans who were eager to watch the stream online. Regrettably, Eintracht Braunschweig's second-division soccer match in the Bundesliga 2 was not affected by these tech problems.
