- Technical failure as the cause of a trailer fire?
A technical malfunction could be the cause of the fire on a campsite near the Barleber See in the north of Magdeburg. During the investigation of the cause of the fire, traces were secured and witnesses were questioned, a police spokesman said. The fire started from one of the three burned caravans. An old refrigerator was identified as a possible cause. The State Criminal Office is conducting further investigations.
Currently, arson is considered less likely. Caravans and accommodations stood close together, the police spokesman said. Three caravans burned down on Friday night, and several others were damaged by the intense heat. There were no injuries.
The police spokesperson mentioned that they are questioning witnesses as part of their investigation into the campsite fire. Due to the close proximity of the caravans and the damage, the police spokesman stated that arson is currently considered less likely.
