Government Affairs - Team Zastrow aims to be recognized as a social force in Saxony.
Zastrow didn't disclose if his crew would join the state election on September 1st. "You need to step into the political arena in Saxony," he stated. "There's no more pressing need than establishing a political option in the middle." Taking part in the election is predominantly a financial issue, he furthered, and a final call would be made in the near future.
Apparently, the party could elect a state list during a party event the next Sunday. There could also be direct candidates prepared. Nonetheless, it hasn't been decided if this will indeed happen. Zastrow himself isn't ruling out winning a direct spot in Dresden. In the recent municipal polls, his team magically made it to 8.1%.
Zastrow turned his back on his old party in January of this year. "I think the politics of the traffic light is wrong, and that's so complete I can hardly express it," he said back then. Zastrow is often seen as a leader of the Saxon Liberals. In 1999, he seized the reins of the party and held the position for 20 years. From 2004 to 2014, he served as the parliamentary leader of the FDP, and from 2011 to 2013, he was the deputy chair of the Free Democrats.
