Teachers in Chemnitz and Zwickau called to go on warning strike
The leading union of the Saxon Teachers' Association (SLV) has called for an all-day warning strike in Chemnitz and Zwickau on Tuesday. According to the SLV, this is due to the fact that collective bargaining for the public sector in the federal states has so far been inconclusive. The pressure on the employers must now increase ahead of the third round of negotiations on December 7, it said.
According to the association, the second round of negotiations at the beginning of November had once again remained open-ended. The unions are demanding 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more. Junior staff are to receive 200 euros more - and be taken on for an indefinite period. The wage agreement is to run for 12 months.
The call by the SLV top union, dbb beamtenbund und tarifunion, is aimed at all teachers in Chemnitz and Zwickau who are employed under collective agreements. A central rally is planned for Tuesday at 11.00 a.m. on Theaterplatz in Chemnitz.
Teacher unions, including the Saxon Teachers' Association (SLV), have announced strikes as a form of pressure during the upcoming third round of negotiations on December 7. The striking teachers, specifically those in Chemnitz and Zwickau, are supported by the dbb beamtenbund und tarifunion, aiming to secure their demands for a wage increase and job security.
