Taylor Swift fans shocked after cancellation of concert in Vienna
Many of the so-called Swifties had traveled from far away to the Austrian capital and were now trying to cope with the situation. "My sister is stuck alone in Vienna," a comment read according to the news agency APA. But she had just arranged to meet with other fans. Another user wrote: "I'm also alone in Vienna. If anyone wants to meet, I'd love to go sightseeing."
Other fans, however, were now afraid to move around the city, as a woman from the US wrote that she had come to Vienna for four days and had also wanted to explore the city. But now she had concerns about going outside.
After two arrests in connection with an Islamic terror plot, all three of Taylor Swift's planned concerts in Vienna were canceled on Wednesday evening. All tickets will be refunded, according to the organizers. Around 65,000 spectators were expected for each of the concerts scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as part of Swift's "Eras" tour.
According to Austrian authorities, one of the two arrested had pledged allegiance to the jihadist militia Islamic State (IS). The police secured chemical substances in the apartment of the suspect arrested in Lower Austria.
Fans expressed their disappointment upon learning that Taylor Swift's concerts had been canceled due to an Islamic terror threat. Despite the situation, some fans were still eager to meet and explore Vienna together.
