Initial undertaking - Tax authorities visit high school students in Freiburg for an examination.

"What's the process of completing a tax return?" is a question posed by students and others concerned with taxes on a Thursday (starting at 10:30 am) in Freiburg. Students from the Walter Eucken Economic High School's two graduating classes are taking part in a pilot project called "Taxes make school." Experts in financial administration provide information during the roughly one and a half hour course. For now, this project is limited to the South Baden region, but a nationwide offer is planned for next year.

The highest student representation in the state previously demanded additional everyday teaching on these topics at schools. "In our view, it's crucial that at least one hour per week covers taxes, insurance, or rental law," said Berat Gürbüz, ex-chairman of the State Student Council in September.

Many students and students don't receive instructions on these topics at home, as Gürbüz mentioned. The recommended time for everyday teaching is to be taken from the religion or ethics class's perspective.
