Talks on ceasefire in Sudan begin in Switzerland

In Sudan, a bloody power struggle has been ongoing since April 2023 between the army of military ruler Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF militia of his former deputy Mohammed Hamdan Daglo. According to UN reports, tens of thousands of people have been killed in the fighting. More than 10.7 million people have been internally displaced, and over 2.3 million have fled to neighboring countries. Previous negotiations in Saudi Arabia have not led to an end to the fighting.

Despite the ongoing power struggle in Sudan, international aid organizations are struggling to reach affected areas due to the volatile situation. The international community has called for an immediate ceasefire in The Sudan to prevent further loss of life and displacement.
