Football-Bundesliga - Tah-Poker with Bayern is a problem for Leverkusen

The transfer poker with FC Bayern over Jonathan Tah is causing problems for Bayer Leverkusen. The German national football player has a contract with the double champion until 2025, which the 28-year-old does not want to extend. The Leverkusen defense chief is supposed to come to an agreement with Munich - but Bayern and Bayer are not in agreement on the transfer fee.

Tah is currently training with the Leverkusen team at the training camp in Donaueschingen. The defender is coordinating with his teammates there for the new season. If Tah were to really leave, it would be complicated for Bayer, according to a report in "Kicker".

Is there a tight deadline to the Bayern?

Due to Champions League regulations, the poker would become a race against time. It is expected that the factory team will set a deadline for the record champion to accept an offer or end the poker.

If Tah were to switch, the double champion would at least need another center back with leadership qualities. The newcomer should then be a player trained in the DFB - that's why Leverkusen has primarily focused on such players. Currently, the former Liverpool player and currently clubless Joel Matip (32) is a transfer target.

Champions League places assigned

Bayer can register 25 professionals for the Champions League by the 3rd of September. According to the regulations, four of these must have been trained in the club and four more in the DFB. Unoccupied places expire.

The 17 places on the registration list A for the Champions League, which each club in the top flight can fill without restrictions, has been planned by trainer Xabi Alonso. The selection of potential Tah successors is therefore limited.

  1. Despite the transfer negotiations with FC Bayern over Jonathan Tah causing issues, Bayer 04 Leverkusen is currently training in Donaueschingen for the new season.
  2. Tah, a defender from North Rhine-Westphalia, is coordinating with his Leverkusen teammates at the training camp, potentially playing his last matches for the club if negotiations with Bayern are successful.
  3. The record champion, Bayern, is expected to set a deadline for Bayer to accept an offer or end the transfer poker due to Champions League regulations.
  4. If Tah were to switch to Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen would need to find another center back with leadership qualities, possibly looking towards German-trained DFB players such as the former Liverpool player Joel Matip.
  5. Facing a tight deadline and Champions League placement regulations, Bayer can only register 25 professionals for the Champions League by September 3rd, with four of these needing to be trained in the club and four more in the DFB.
  6. With only 17 spots on the registration list A available for each top-flight club without restrictions, Bayer's selection of potential Tah successors is limited in the competitive Football-Bundesliga.
  7. As Bavaria dominates German soccer, other clubs like Bayer Leverkusen face challenges in maintaining a strong presence in the Bundesliga and competing against powerful squads like FC Bayern.
