Tafel collects food donations in Berlin supermarkets
The Berliner Tafel is collecting food donations for the needy in supermarkets for Christmas. When shopping, donors can buy an extra chocolate Santa or a packet of coffee and hand it in to the volunteers, as the organization announced on Wednesday. Non-perishable food and hygiene articles are particularly welcome.
The "One more!" campaign runs between December 1 and 16. According to the information, a total of 18 supermarket branches are taking part. The donations will be distributed to Berliner Tafel distribution points. "Around 75,000 people currently visit the distribution points every month," the association said.
The collected food donations will significantly help alleviate poverty among Berlin's needy during the festive season. The Berliner Tafel's focus on non-perishable foods and hygiene articles highlights their commitment to addressing social affairs related to poverty.
