Kevin Mbabu, footballer from Switzerland, will join the Swiss national soccer team for the European Championship preparation camp. The full-back was dropped from the Swiss European Championship squad on Wednesday.

Switzerland's German opponents in the Euro 2024 group stage will miss out on Kevin Mbabu from FC Augsburg's services. National coach Murat Yakin omitted the right-back who's on loan from Fulham from the squad, reducing it even further on Wednesday. Much like midfielder Filip Ugrinic from Young Boys Bern, Mbabu will be ready to step in if needed, Swiss football association stated.

Yakin chose Leonidas Stergiou, a 22-year-old German vice-champion VfB Stuttgart player, over Mbabu. Playing as a three-person defense, a central defender, or on the right wing, Stergiou offers versatility in his position.

The Swiss team is currently practicing in St. Gallen. They won a friendly match against Estonia on Tuesday, scoring four goals against them (1-0). They'll take on Austria this Saturday for their last practice match before heading to their tournament base in Stuttgart. On June 23, Switzerland will compete in their group stage match against the host nation, Germany.
