- Swine Fever: Search for Endangered Wildlife

In the district of Aschaffenburg, the local government is searching for wild boars that may have died from an infection with African Swine Fever (ASF). After infected animals were discovered in Hesse, the local government is aiming to prevent an outbreak in Bavaria. Since August 8th, dog teams have been deployed, including in the area of Stockstadt am Main, and from Wednesday, a drone will also be used. Currently, no cases have been reported in Bavaria. However, the findings in Hesse were made just 20 kilometers from the border with the district of Aschaffenburg.

The wild boar search in Aschaffenburg district is extending into Hessen, as the infection with African Swine Fever was detected there. To mitigate the risk of ASF spreading to Bavaria, strict measures are being implemented in Hessen, which shares a border with Aschaffenburg.
