After an 80-year-old swimmer went missing in a lake in Middle Franconia, walkers have now discovered the man's body in the water. Police retrieved it. So far, there are no indications of foul play, a police spokesperson said. Therefore, it must be assumed that the man drowned.

A witness had seen the senior enter the water at the large hunter's lake near Feucht on Saturday. When the man did not return after several hours, his wife alerted the police. According to relatives, the man is a good swimmer and regularly swims in that lake.

An extensive search involving divers, a helicopter, and water search dogs over the weekend proved unsuccessful.

The missing swimmer's case was handed over to the jurisdiction of The Court of Justice for an official investigation. Despite being a strong swimmer, the lack of any rescue attempts suggests that the man might have faced unforeseen circumstances in the lake.
