Due to a suspected hostage situation, a 42-year-old man has been in custody since Friday. According to the police statement, this man entered the Albstadt Police Station (Zollernalbkreis) on the previous Thursday and demanded access to the detention wing. At that time, a 24-year-old was present there, who had been arrested that same morning for committing multiple bodily harm offenses. One of his victims is the 42-year-old man, whom the younger man is alleged to have hit several times on the head with a bottle on Tuesday.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the 42-year-old wanted to be brought before the 24-year-old, whom he knew personally, to make him accountable for the attack. To support his demand, the 42-year-old is believed to have pretended to have a hand grenade with him. The officers did not let him through. During the conversation, the 42-year-old was overpowered and arrested. He was unarmed and carried no explosives with him. No one was injured.

The 24-year-old, who is alleged to have attacked and injured three people in Albstadt in the past few days without justifiable reason, was still in custody on Thursday.
