Crime - Suspicion of child pornography: files confiscated
Due to the suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography, police searched a flat in Hannover on a Friday. The suspect is a 62-year-old man, stated the spokeswoman of the Hanover Prosecutor's Office, Kathrin Soefker. During the search, data carriers were secured which now need to be evaluated. "The evaluation will certainly take a longer time," explained the prosecutor. Previously, the "Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung" had reported on the police raid.
The background of the proceedings was a tip from other investigations of the police in North Rhine-Westphalia, according to which a person was moving in Hannover in the Darknet and exchanging child pornographic material within a group, said Soefker. Therefore, the central office against child pornographic and youth endangering literature, which is located at the Hanover Prosecutor's Office, initiated an investigative procedure.
The suspect resides in Lower Saxony, specifically in Hanover. The case is being handled by the Hanover public prosecutor's office. After the discovery of data carriers during the search, the police plan to pass on the information to the Hanover public prosecutor's office for further evaluation, which is expected to take a significant amount of time due to the nature of the evidence.
