Suspected violations of the Russian embargo in the millions

Around 60 customs officers and several public prosecutors have searched seven premises in the Germersheim district on suspicion of violations of the Russian embargo. This was announced by the Kaiserslautern public prosecutor's office and the customs investigation office in Essen on Thursday.

According to the prosecution and the Customs Investigation Office in the southern Palatinate region of Germany, several free car dealers are suspected of illegally exporting expensive cars from Germany to Russia, bypassing the sanctions and restrictions imposed by the European Union against Russia. In total, according to the prosecution and the Customs Investigation Office, around 190 unlawful exports with a total value in the millions are suspected.

During the searches on Wednesday, extensive evidence was secured. It was also stated that in the case of the main suspect, several accounts worth over 4.5 million Euros were seized during the execution of a seizure order, properties were mortgaged with compulsory liens, and a significant amount of cash was secured.
