- Suspected underwater explosives impede the designated swimming spot.

At the parking lot adjacent to a lake in Hof, a woman stumbled upon something she thought was a tank mine. She moved it to the beach area, mistakenly believing it to be an umbrella stand, as reported by the authorities. It wasn't until a friend recognized the mine's true nature that emergency services were alerted on a Saturday.

The authorities set up a perimeter and investigated the area for hours with assistance from the German Life Saving Association (DLRG). Experts analyzed the mine and declared it safe: It was a replica, devoid of explosives. The source of the dummy mine continues to be a mystery.

The authorities decided to add a warning sign to the beach area, stating, "The following shall be treated as a potential hazard." Recognizing the critical situation, they also advised visitors to stay away from the area until further notice.
