Investigations - Suspected petrol station robber in custody
The 28-year-old man allegedly responsible for a series of petrol station robberies in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is in custody. The suspect was brought before a magistrate's court on Thursday, as a spokeswoman for the public prosecutor's office in Rostock confirmed on Friday. The investigation is continuing.
The police caught the suspect in the act on Wednesday evening together with a 26-year-old suspected accomplice: the man had been about to rob a petrol station in Ribnitz-Damgarten when the officers arrested him, as the police announced on Thursday.
The man from Rostock is said to be responsible for a total of six robberies at petrol stations in the past few days. He allegedly threatened the masked employees with a pistol and stole money and cigarettes. No one was injured. The 28-year-old was then caught and provisionally arrested on his seventh attempt.

The suspect was remanded in custody by the Local court following the confirmation of charges by the public prosecutor's office in Rostock. The criminality spree involved six petrol station robberies in the last few days, with the suspect reportedly threatening employees with a pistol and making off with cash and cigarettes. He was eventually apprehended at a filling station in Ribnitz-Damgarten, marking his seventh attempt, as revealed in a police press release from December 14.
