Suspected drug dealers arrested after searches
Investigators from the police and the State Office of Criminal Investigation have searched the homes and vehicles of suspected drug dealers in several parts of Berlin. Six men between the ages of 18 and 49 were provisionally arrested, as the police and public prosecutor's office jointly announced on Wednesday. Five of them will reportedly be brought before a magistrate on Thursday.
The men are accused of selling heroin and cocaine in so-called scene balls as gang members since December 2022. They are said to have distributed the drugs at the Innsbrucker Platz, Bundesplatz and Südende S-Bahn stations, as well as the Ullsteinstraße, Alt-Tempelhof and Rathaus Schöneberg U-Bahn stations.
Investigators also seized 190 heroin or cocaine consumption units as well as 25,000 euros in cash and various data carriers on Wednesday. The searches in the districts of Neukölln, Spandau, Rudow, Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Adlershof and Alt-Hohenschönhausen had begun in the morning.
The arrested men are allegedly involved in selling illegal drugs such as heroin and cocaine in Berlin, contributing to the persistent issue of crime in certain areas. The seized 190 consumption units and 25,000 euros suggest a substantial involvement in the local drug trade.
