Fled from control - Suspected drug dealer races away from police
A suspected drug dealer in Mannheim provided a kilometer-long pursuit with the police. The 29-year-old was arrested and has been in custody since then. He is reported to have driven erratically, colliding with a curb and a construction site barrier, according to police and prosecutors.
The officers wanted to check on the man, who reportedly stopped briefly before driving off for a stretch of 17 kilometers towards Hockenheim (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis). There, the suspect fled on foot to an estate where he was eventually apprehended.
Police find drugs and weapons
In his environment, the officers found a gun loaded with two sharp bullets and approximately 200 grams of marijuana. The man was reportedly carrying a hunting knife in the car. Later, during a search of his residence, a prohibited brass knuckle and 259 grams of amphetamine were secured.
During the pursuit, the 29-year-old is said to have been under the influence of drugs himself. The man was taken before a magistrate judge the same day, a Wednesday, and taken to prison.
The serpentine line of the pursuit led the police through the streets of Mannheim and neighboring areas, such as Hockenheim in Baden-Württemberg. Despite numerous accidents, including collisions with a curb and a construction site barrier, the police persisted in the chase. The public prosecutor's office is now investigating multiple charges, including drug trafficking and weapon possession, following the capture of the suspect. The police believe that the man's erratic driving and evasive tactics were a result of his drug use during the chase.
