- Suspected case of swine fever in Baden-Württemberg
Following outbreaks in neighboring states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, there is a suspicion of African Swine Fever in Baden-Württemberg. A wild boar in the Rhein-Neckar district has tested positive for the animal disease, according to the Ministry of Agriculture in Stuttgart. This virus, harmless to humans, affects both domestic and wild pigs and is almost always fatal.
The outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Hesse also raised concerns in nearby regions, including Hessen. Due to the detection of the disease in Rhineland-Palatinate and a positive test in Baden-Württemberg, Hessen needs to remain vigilant to prevent any potential spread.
