Suspected arsonist from Hohndorf is remanded in custody

Crime - Suspected arsonist from Hohndorf is remanded in custody

A man who is alleged to have set a fire in Hohndorf (Erzgebirge) is in custody for investigation. According to the Chemnitz Police Headquarters, the 34-year-old man was brought before the Chemnitz District Court on Friday at the request of the prosecutor.

A warrant was issued against him. The man is accused of setting fire to a vacant multi-family house on the previous Thursday. Neighbors noticed smoke and the fire department was alerted. The roof was on fire. No one was injured.

The 34-year-old is said to have disturbed the fire department intervention and was taken into custody because he resisted a dispersal order.

The fire incident occurred in Hohndorf, which is located in the Ore Mountains of Saxony, not far from Chemnitz. Due to this incident, the man was apprehended for questioning in connection with a potential crime.
