- Supply shortages at BASF after the explosion

Following an explosion** and fire at the BASF plant in Ludwigshafen, customers may face shortages of certain products. The chemical company announced that deliveries of selected Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and carotenoid products, as well as specific flavorings, have been affected. The fire damaged a BASF facility that produces flavorings and precursors for production. The affected facility has been shut down.

The explosion occurred after an organic solvent leaked in the South part of the world's largest chemical company. Eighteen people were lightly injured, including seven firefighters during the firefighting efforts. However, there was never any threat to the population. Police are still investigating the cause.

Due to the damage caused by the accident at the BASF plant, there might be an increase in incidents of product unavailability for some customers. To mitigate potential accidents in the future, it's crucial for BASF to conduct a thorough investigation into the root causes of the explosion and fire.
