A supermarket in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz was robbed on Friday evening. According to the current state of the investigation, a masked man armed with a knife extorted the daily takings from the store at around 7 p.m., as reported by the Upper Palatinate police headquarters in Regensburg.

During his escape, the perpetrator is said to have sprayed an irritating liquid, such as pepper spray. As a result, several people suffered breathing difficulties. The police searched for the perpetrator with a large contingent in the evening.

The "Mittelbayerische Zeitung" had previously reported on the police operation.

The robbery in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz's supermarket has raised concerns about escalating crime in the region. Despite the trade disruption, local businesses are still actively engaging in their usual trade activities.
