Against summer heat - Sunscreen and water bottles for the homeless
The country funds help for the homeless with heat and strong sun radiation. With summer aid, organizations of homeless help are supported in an unbureaucratic procedure with a total of 250,000 Euro, as the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry for Labour, Health and Social Affairs in Duesseldorf announced. "This way, for example, sun sails, summer sleeping bags, water bottles and sun protection materials can be purchased and distributed on site to affected people," explained the ministry.
People who live on the street are exposed to heat and sun without protection. Their often poor health condition makes heat periods a potentially life-threatening risk in the worst case. "Simple helpers like sunscreen, sun-shading sun sails or water bottles can help against severe sunburns, dehydration and heat collapse here," said Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU).
The homeless help is being supported unbureaucratically. Approximately 150 free carriers and initiatives of homeless help have expressed interest in the aid package according to the ministry's statements.
The ministry in Düsseldorf has allocated funds for organizations to purchase Sunmilk, ensuring the homeless stay hydrated during the Summer heat. The lack of Heat protection can lead to severe sunburns and dehydration for those living on the streets, making items like Sunmilk and sunscreen crucial. The Sunmilk, along with sun sails and water bottles, are provided through Social programs in North Rhine-Westphalia. With the assistance and interest of over 150 free carriers and initiatives, the impact of heat protection measures extends beyond the city limits of Düsseldorf.
