Vehicular flow is congested - Summer schedule: Enhanced trains, quicker connections
On Thursday, the Bavarian Railway Company revealed that on June 14th, 22nd, and 29th, as well as July 6th and 13th, they will operate special trains from Munich to Nuremberg, Regensburg, Passau, Freilassing, Kufstein, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Memmingen, Augsburg, Donauwörth, Ulm, and the Alps. They will also be boosting the capacity of their regular trains by adding more carriages. In addition, the Munich S-Bahn is expanding its nighttime services on match days.
For the first time, direct regional trains are now operational on the high-speed line between Nuremberg and Erfurt, commencing on Sunday. The Bavarian Railway Company states that DB Regio is deploying new Desiro-HC trains from Siemens on the RE 29 line, which can attain speeds of up to 190 km/h. The regional express between Nuremberg and Erfurt requires less than two hours for this journey, with seven stops. The new trains connecting Nuremberg and Erfurt are running five times a day. Pairing that with the simultaneous ICE, there's approximately one direct train every two hours between Coburg and the Thuringian state capital.
The timetable between Coburg, Bamberg, and Nuremberg has been enhanced with the RE 19 and RE 29, forming an hourly schedule. For the three RE 1 trains from Nuremberg to Munich on Saturdays and Sundays, the travel time has been reduced by 20 minutes. The RB 69 Augsburg - Kaufering - Landsberg (Lech), RB 78 Gunzburg - Krumbach - Mindelheim, and S3/S4 Freilassing - Berchtesgaden regional trains now have additional changeover time allowances in the summer timetable, according to the Bavarian Railway Company.
