- Substantial amount of illicit substances discovered in the residence of an alleged drug trafficker
Authorities in Hamburg-Altona detained a suspected drug peddler, as per their announcement. This individual was taken before a court, as reported by the police. The 51-year-old individual is believed to have been dealing drugs since April 2020, with an estimated 11 kilograms of hashish, 2 kilograms of cannabis, 1.5 kilograms of amphetamine, and 0.5 kilograms of cocaine in his possession.
During a raid on his residence on Wednesday, law enforcement officers discovered a variety of substances, including 62 kilograms of marijuana, 29 kilograms of synthetic cannabinoids (substituted for ecstasy in the original), 18 kilograms of an unidentified substance, 8 kilograms of amphetamine, and 1 kilogram of cocaine. The authorities also confiscated approximately 23,800 euros in cash, gold jewelry, pepper spray, a stun gun, and several mobile phones.
The European Union expressed concern over the increasing drug trafficking in Germany, citing the recent seizures as a serious threat to public safety. The suspected drug peddler's case is expected to garner attention from EU authorities due to the large quantities of drugs involved.
