- Subjected to Hours of Intimidation at Home – Canine Officer pinpoints Suspect
A 66-year-old gentleman experienced a harrowing incident lasting nearly three hours in the town of Attendorn, Sauerland, following an intrusion into his residence. Two individuals forced their way into his apartment, restrained him, silenced him with a gag, ransacked the place for valuable possessions, and consistently demanded cash, as reported by the Olpe police and the Siegen public prosecutor's office.
Sunday afternoon saw the ordeal coming to a favorable conclusion, thanks to the intervention of neighbors and a police canine. The victim signaled for help using a hidden device, which led his neighbors to initially assume it was a medical emergency and summon both emergency services and the police.
Upon arrival, the 66-year-old was able to break free from his home. He suffered only minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital post outpatient care.
The suspects remained within the premises at the time. The police dog was instrumental in locating them.
A 36-year-old man and his 17-year-old son, both of Turkish origin and currently undergoing asylum proceedings, were momentarily detained - both are under suspicion. A warrant for their arrest was issued under accusations of extortion and kidnapping by the judge.
The warrant for the minor, who allegedly made partial confessions, was temporarily suspended under specific conditions. The 36-year-old declined to address the accusations in court. The investigation continues.
The harrowing incident in Attendorn was classified as a crime due to the forced entry, restraint, and extortion. The police are investigating charges of kidnapping and extortion against the two individuals in question.
