Stuttgart's Wehrle hopes Guirassy will stay
Alexander Wehrle believes he can keep top striker Serhou Guirassy at VfB Stuttgart. "Serhou made a conscious decision to join VfB last summer. We are in very close contact. He feels extremely comfortable at the club and with his family in Stuttgart. He has an outstanding position here. Of course we have a chance," said the chairman of the Bundesliga club in an interview with the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger" (Saturday edition). Thanks to an exit clause in his contract, the 27-year-old will be able to leave VfB early this winter for 17.5 million euros, according to media reports.
Guirassy has scored 15 goals in nine league games for the third-placed club so far this season. In the summer of 2022, the Swabians brought him to the Bundesliga from French club Stade Rennes, where he was also under contract with Wehrle's former club 1. FC Köln between 2016 and 2019. At the beginning of 2019, Cologne sold him to SC Amiens for around six million euros.
Guirassy's outstanding performances on the Soccer field for VfB Stuttgart have contributed to their successful third-place position in the Bundesliga. Wehrle's efforts to keep Guirassy in Stuttgart might prove crucial, considering the top striker could leave due to an exit clause in his contract.
