Local tournament - Stuttgarter Kickers end coaching association with Ünal
Following their failure to promote to the third league, Stuttgarter Kickers and coach Mustafa Ünal are taking different paths. The team's president, Rainer Lorz, announced on Friday evening that they had decided they needed a "fresh start and new impulses," citing both the current results and the team's overall development in the past few months.
In the final matchday of Regionalliga Südwest, Kickers lost the city derby against VfB Stuttgart II for the championship, with a 0:3 scoreline against FC Homburg. Ünal took over as the Kickers' head coach in 2021 and guided the club into the Regionalliga.
