Bundesliga - Stuttgart volleyball players mourn the loss of coach Aleksandersen
Former Stuttgart volleyball coach Tore Aleksandersen is dead. As his former club Allianz MTV Stuttgart announced, citing the Norwegian's family, Aleksandersen succumbed to prostate cancer on Wednesday at the age of 55. "With Tore, a person has left us forever who was much more to all of us than the successful coach of Allianz MTV Stuttgart," said Sports Director Kim Oszvald-Renkema. "He gave each and every one of us an incredible amount of energy, inspiration and joy despite and during his illness."
Aleksandersen died in his native Norway. "We are glad that he was still able to be with his family there," said MTV Managing Director Aurel Irion. The club deeply mourns with all his family and friends.
Alekandersen joined Allianz MTV in December 2020, under him the Stuttgart team won the German championship twice, most recently last May. The team also won the cup competition in 2022. However, Aleksandersen had to end his coaching career last summer due to cancer. His successor in Stuttgart was Konstantin Bitter.
"The entire sport of volleyball has lost an outstanding coach and person in Tore Aleksandersen. Our sadness could not be greater," said Oszvald-Renkema.

- The German Volleyball Bundesliga team MTV Stuttgart, where Aleksandersen coached, is located in the city of Stuttgart, which is in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
