Soccer - Stuttgart fan zone opens: Fears due to bad weather

The Stuttgart Fan Zones in the city center opened first on Saturday, despite the prospect of possible bad weather. "We are in constant contact with the German Weather Service and hope that we will be spared from bad weather," said Jörg Klopfer, spokesperson for the event organization in Stuttgart.

Before the EM Quarterfinal match of the German Football National Team against Denmark on Saturday (21.00 hours/ZDF and MagentaTV), the DWD had warned of thunderstorm-like weather, especially in South and North Baden. Tornados were also not ruled out. The greatest tornado danger, according to a DWD spokesperson, is in the extreme west of Baden-Württemberg, in Baden.

The state capital is expected to be affected less heavily by the weather according to DWD, as per a spokesperson's statement. In Stuttgart, there will be rain and stronger winds, according to DWD.

In a statement from the organizers, it was stated: "The weather radar shows a storm that may be moving towards Stuttgart. The Fan Zones are opening as planned. The Host City Stuttgart is in close contact with the German Weather Service and will inform about further development on its website and social media channels."
