On a Tuesday at a secondary school in Bergheim, irritant gas caused the injury of 16 students and one teacher. The fire department spokesperson stated that while the entire school was evacuated due to the incident, only a single class was affected. The classroom was aired out, and the injured students were set to return to the building after break. Two paramedics examined and treated the victims. A total of 10 firefighters, 4 ambulances, and 2 ambulances with paramedics were present at the scene. The source of the irritant gas, be it intentional or accidental, remains unknown.
