Education Institutions - Student from MV secures national victory in "Youth Debates" competition
A 15-year-old student at Albert-Einstein-Gymnasium in Neubrandenburg triumphs in the "Northern region" of the "Jugend debattiert" Bundesfinale, impressing all with her persuasive and bold arguments. Defeating her peers from classes 8 to 10 in the final showdown in Berlin, she earned the admiration of the event's organizers. In the previous round, Mathilda ranked second in the MV state competition. The hot topic for the Bundesfinale filled with excitement - "Distribution of DFB success prizes at the same level for the men's and women's national teams" - mirrored the upcoming European Football Championship in Germany.
Education Minister Simone Oldenburg (Left) expresses her pride in Mathilda's accomplishment, stating, "We're incredibly delighted with Mathilda's performance. It's an honor to witness such skill and determination." Highlighting the importance of "Jugend debattiert," she adds, "This initiative has been transformative in classrooms, encouraging students from grade 5 onwards to critically engage with politics, enhance their language skills and foster a more vibrant discussion culture within society. Mathilda has shown incredible mastery of these skills."
Following Mathilda's success, Benjamin Greipl from North Rhine-Westphalia emerged as the winner in the older age group, classes 10 to 13. Hosted by the sponsoring organization, this debate competition has been a staple across the country, with the traditional MV state final taking place in the plenary hall of the Landtag in Schwerin.
"Jugend debattiert," created by the Federal President and sitting under his patronage, is a program dedicated to elevating students' language, political, and personal education through spirited debate. It is an invaluable asset to their development.
