Protest rallies - Strobl urges increased use of video surveillance following knife attack.

Strobl voiced his criticism against the police: "It's easy to create short films, but why should they be forbidden from recording? This is ridiculous." He plans to speak with data protection professionals regarding this matter. "This regulation needs to be updated. We're ashamed of becoming blind and deaf by turning off necessary tools in critical situations."

As per the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection, there are strict guidelines for video recording demonstrations, outlined in the Federal and State Assembly Act. In general, police video surveillance is prohibited.

On a previous Friday, a 25-year-old Afghan attacked five individuals from the Islam-critical group Pax Europa and a 29-year-old police officer with a knife on the market square. The police officer passed away two days later due to his injuries.
