Strikers in crisis: one-on-one talks with Union coach

Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer has encouraged his struggling attackers Kevin Behrens and Kevin Volland in one-on-one talks. "He's got a goal drought, that's true. But he's still trying to work, to provoke it," the Swiss said of Behrens. "But I also think he's got a lot on his mind at the moment, thinking too much," said Fischer ahead of the Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (3.30pm/Sky).

He had spoken to the new international about this. "As a striker, such phases are part of the game, you have to stay cool, but remain convinced that the next opportunity will go in," said the coach. Behrens had scored four goals in the first two Bundesliga games, but since then he has been waiting for another successful experience. Union have lost eleven games in a row.

New summer signing Volland has yet to score a goal for the Berliners. "He tries everything. He's just struggling a bit with the processes at the moment," said Fischer. "They're not yet sitting the way we'd like them to, the way he'd like them to." That's why Volland thinks too much in some situations, said the 57-year-old. "But he takes steps. That's crucial for me."

Overall, Fischer appealed to his players to continue their spirited performance. "Boys, make decisions. Take responsibility," he said. "If that's no longer the case, then it will be really difficult." The team has not scored a goal in four games. "We have to try to provoke more offensive actions," said the coach.

Although Union Berlin is currently in a goal-scoring slump, urging more offensive actions is crucial for the team, especially against Eintracht Frankfurt in the upcoming Bundesliga match on Saturday at 3:30pm on Sky. Despite Kevin Behrens' goal drought and Kevin Volland's lack of success since joining the club, both strikers remain determined to turn their fortunes around.
