Striker Daferner returns to Dynamo Dresden on loan

Dynamo get reinforcements for the forward line. The loanee from Nuremberg is a familiar face in Dresden.

3rd league - Striker Daferner returns to Dynamo Dresden on loan

With Christoph Daferner, Sturm returns to Dynamo Dresden. The 26-year-old is being loaned from 1. FC Nürnberg, the third-tier club announced on Friday. There is no buy-option according to Nürnberg. "I have never trained Christoph myself, but I have known him since our time in Freiburg. He can certainly help us and the entire team with his quality and experience from the second and third leagues. He fits well with his down-to-earth attitude and absolute willingness to work hard into our group," said Dynamo's new coach Thomas Stamm and added: "The way he plays football matches exactly the character we have in mind for the club's playing philosophy."

Daferner played for the sports community from 2020 to 2022 in the black-and-yellow jersey. The 1.89-meter tall forward appeared in a total of 75 league matches (32 times 2. Bundesliga, 37 times 3. Liga, 4 times DFB-Pokal, 2 times promotion) for the team, scoring 27 goals and setting up nine more. In his debut season 2020/2021, Daferner contributed significantly to the promotion to the 2. Bundesliga with twelve goals and seven assists.

In the following league season, despite a direct relegation, he was Dynamo's top scorer in the 2. Bundesliga with 13 goals and two assists. For the 2022/2023 season, the native Bavarian joined 1. FC Nürnberg and was most recently on loan to 2. Liga side Fortuna Düsseldorf for half a year.

Daferner's return to Dynamo Dresden is facilitated by a loan from 1st FC Nuremberg, a club situated in Bavaria's Nuremberg. This transfer marks Daferner's departure from the 3rd league, where he previously played. His previous stints include Freiburg, where he spent time alongside his new coach Thomas Stamm. In the Saxony-based Dynamo Dresden, Daferner aims to contribute his experience from the 2nd and 3rd leagues, having scored 27 goals and set up nine more during his tenure at 1. FC Nuremberg.
