Accident - Streetcar and truck collide in Kassel

A tram collided with a truck in Kassel on a Friday. Both drivers were unharmed, according to the police. It was initially unclear whether possibly passengers of the tram were injured, as most of them were no longer on site when the police arrived.

According to reports, the collision caused traffic disruptions in the professional traffic. The 35-year-old driver of the truck had driven onto the rails with his semi-trailer while leaving a construction site and had to stop. The tram then collided with the tractor unit of the semi-trailer and pushed it several meters further. The police assume damage in the high five-figure range.

The accident on the streetcar in Kassel led to widespread traffic disruptions in Hesse. The police are investigating similar incidents involving streetcars and heavy vehicles in the region due to the increasing number of accidents. After the incident, the police urged road users to be more cautious and follow traffic rules to avoid such accidents in the future.
