- Strawberries are burning again in Pinneberg County
On a field near Hasloh in the Pinneberg district, approximately 200 straw bales caught fire. Around 80 emergency personnel from several fire departments, along with a bulldozer from the Technical Relief Agency (THW), a grabber from a private company, and several farmers were involved in the firefighting efforts. These efforts were expected to continue into the afternoon, a fire department spokesperson said. The firefighting was also challenging due to water supply issues at the scene. Approximately 600 meters of hose lines were laid.
In the past few days, there have been four reported straw bale fires within a radius of about ten kilometers. Most recently, straw bales caught fire in Quickborn and at the border with Norderstedt (both in the Segeberg district) during the night. In all cases, the police did not rule out arson as the cause.
