Strategy developed for the transformation of universities
Expanding secure network infrastructures and digitally supported teaching: Together with the State Rectors' Conference, the Ministry of Science has developed a strategy for the transformation of universities. The aim is to make profitable use of the opportunities presented by digital change without neglecting the risks, emphasized Science Minister Sebastian Gemkow on Tuesday. "For example, we need even more cooperation between universities. Cyber attacks on universities have also made it clear: Information security must be made a top priority at universities," said the CDU politician.
The objectives were summarized in a strategy paper comprising several points. In addition to the security points, these include new curricula adapted to the needs of the digital labor markets and the expansion of research data management in order to promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
The strategy also involves encouraging more collaboration between universities via the Internet, utilizing its potential for knowledge sharing and innovation. Furthermore, the German Cabinet is emphasizing the importance of strengthening cybersecurity measures in universities to safeguard against digital threats.
