German Football League - Story: Jena soccer players battle for Bundesliga accreditation
The FC Carl Zeiss Jena's women's team has had some good news lately - they're making a comeback to the Bundesliga after a two-year hiatus. But there's a catch: they might not actually be able to play there yet. A statement in the "Thueringer Allgemeine" specifies that the club has to meet some conditions set by the German Football Association (DFB) to get a permit. And one of those conditions? A whooping 1.1 million euros in extra liquidity.
At first, the club was mum on the subject. However, the paper reports that with the men's team making it to the state cup and entering the first round of the DFB Cup, this amount is now reduced to 950,000 euros. On top of this, the team is hoping for more sponsorship money to make up the difference. It's also said that a part of the money will be from Jenarena, a shareholder who pledged 1 million euros over the next two years.
