Rail traffic - Storms: route from Hamburg to Bremen still closed
The railway line between Hamburg and Bremen is still closed due to weather damage. It is unclear if operations will resume on Friday, a spokesperson said late on Thursday evening in Berlin.
At Tostedt (Harburg district), there is an underpass on the tracks. "We are making efforts for everything to run again tomorrow. But that depends on when the water can drain off and if it rains again at night," the spokesperson said.
Long-distance trains are currently being rerouted via Hannover. Metronom regional trains are cancelled. The private railway company announced that the section from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to Lauenbruch is currently not drivable in both directions. Trains can run occasionally between Bremen and Rotenburg. "Heavy rain and local weather have partially flooded and underpassed the tracks." Damage to the overhead line has also occurred on several sections of the track. The company Metronom is making efforts to transport passengers with buses or a notified traffic. However, longer waiting times should be expected. Around 10:00 PM, shortly before 10:00 PM, about ten buses were in use for notified traffic.
