Storms pass over Northern Germany: Children dangerously injured by lightning
According to the police, among the critically injured children in Delmenhorst were a five-year-old and a 14-year-old. After being revived by emergency services, they were taken to hospitals, as well as other injured family members aged between two and 40 were medically treated. Numerous emergency services were in action.

According to the fire department, power substations and transformer stations were also affected, resulting in a two-and-a-half hour widespread power outage. The emergency services of the fire department and other organizations like the Technical Relief Organization counted over 200 interventions in the city area. The processing of numerous emergency calls lasted until late into the night on Monday.
The fire department also reported incidents in Bremen, where they were called out to 65 interventions by Sunday evening. In most cases, according to their reports, it was about flooded basements. "Exceptionally high rainfall amounts" had fallen within a short time, the rescuers explained.
On Sunday, severe thunderstorm warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD) were in effect for parts of several federal states due to heavy thunderstorms with heavy rain. The danger was not fully abated according to its assessment even on Monday. In the south-east of Germany, the DWD warned of "marked thunderstorms" with heavy rainfalls of up to 25 liters per square meter during the day.
