In Nordhausen, numerous roads were flooded and closed following a storm. Basements were also flooded, according to city reports. The fire department was called to numerous incidents to pump out basements and make roads passable again.

"A storm cell has passed," said a spokesperson for the German Weather Service (DWD). In the early hours of Friday, over a hundred liters of rain per square meter were recorded in the Nordhausen area in less than twelve hours.

The L1038 in the Petersdorf district is reportedly covered in mud and debris and is impassable, according to police reports.

The Bielener Straße, Parkallee, Leimbacher Straße, and the connecting road between Nordhausen and the Hesserode district have been flooded and closed since early morning.

The Helmestraße was also closed for two and a half hours due to flooding at the level crossing.

The weather in Nordhausen has been unusually severe, as evidenced by the storm that led to numerous road closures and basement flooding. Despite the efforts of the fire department toclear the blocked roads and pump out floodwater from basements, some roads like the L1038 in Petersdorf remain impassable due to mud and debris.
