Due to numerous storms in the southwest, the fire department and the technical relief organization had a lot to do last night. According to the Saarland Ministry of the Interior, the emergency services had to respond 708 times in Saarland alone. The Regional Association of Saarbrücken was the most affected, with 253 weather-related incidents. A spokesperson for the ministry reported that there were mainly flooded cellars and uprooted trees.

On the A8 near Neunkirchen-Oberstadt, part of the slope slipped at the entrance to a campsite. No one was injured. In the direction of Zweibruecken, one lane was closed between the Neunkirchen-Oberstadt and Neunkirchen-Kohlhof junctions.

In Neunkirchen, the voluntary fire department had to respond over 60 times, as they reported. The technical relief organization (THW) was also involved. "What started as a quiet number of incidents turned into a flood of deployments within half an hour in the districts of Furpach, Kohlhof, Ludwigsthal, and part of the city center, while the other districts were largely spared," the city fire department reported.

There were mainly water damage in private homes, but also in two supermarkets. The emergency services had to pump out flooded cellars and even a parking garage. There, the water was about a meter high and could not drain because a real lake had formed in the Wagwiesental behind it, as the fire department described.

In the Southwest region, the Neunkirchen fire department experienced a significant increase in calls, responding over 60 times. Additionally, the Southwest area faced issues on the A8 near Neunkirchen-Oberstadt, where part of the slope slipped at a campsite entrance.
